FOOD SECURITY AND NUTRITION
TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SMALL FARMERS
PADES focuses on developing family farming and ensuring food and nutritional security. At this level, the focus is on training in good agricultural practices and organizing small farmers, especially women, into groups or cooperatives. Through these organized groups, PADES provides financial support. These producers are supported with loans to help them carry out their activities, and systems for raising funds to purchase inputs are also established.
Through awareness-raising activities, producers are informed about the harmful effects of chemicals and encouraged to practice organic, sustainable, and environmentally friendly farming. To back up their words with action, they are trained in soil regeneration techniques. These include agroforestry, compost production techniques, lowland and mountainside management, and more.
